Climate impact

At KoRo, we analyse the greenhouse gas emissions that are produced during the production of our snacks. These include, among other things, CO2, methane and nitrous oxide. Our hard-working sustainability team collects all the information to calculate a value: the so-called CO2 equivalents. We are now passing this information on to you so that you can make informed purchasing decisions and keep an eye on your personal carbon footprint. We also use these valuable findings ourselves, to try to make our supply chains even smarter in the future and monitor our CO2 footprint.

CO₂ emissions by product

To make the work of our sustainability team easier, we have teamed up with the company Cozero. They support us with their decarbonisation software to calculate the CO2 emissions of our products. Our products go through a lot before they make their way into your pantry or snack bowl, so there is a lot to take into consideration: production, packaging, and logistics – to name just the big steps.

CO₂ emission per product in comparison

Would you like to find out how well your favourite snack stacks up against other products in terms of carbon footprint? Say no more! To create comparability, we calculated the CO₂ emissions per 1 kg of our products and compared them with other products that end up on many people's plates every day, such as cheese, tofu, and many more. We also included coffee as a drink for comparison. So no matter if it is your favourite snack or your go-to kitchen product, you are now able to see exactly how it performs in our “CO₂ per kg of product” ranking.

Comparison of CO₂ emissions per product in kg

Disclaimer: Different methods (comparison products) - The CO2 emissions of the non-KoRo products come from a different data source. Therefore, there may be differences between their evaluation method and the evaluation of KoRo products.

Thick-rolled oats

Thick-rolled oats are made from whole oat groats that have been dehusked and steamed. They are firm to the bite, and it takes a longer time to soak and cook them in water or plant-based milk. Porridge and baked goods made with thick-rolled oats are pleasantly crunchy.

Oats are grown in over 50 countries, with Russia, Canada and Australia being the three largest producers worldwide. In 2017, around 25.9 million tons of oats were harvested. The 20 largest oat producers make up 90% of the global crop. Oat is mainly grown in summer, as it is sensitive to the cold. Oat, however, suffers greatly during dry spells as well, and is therefore generally not cultivated in southern Europe and other warm areas.

Questions & answers: Organic rolled porridge oats 2.5kg
No search results.
Oats do not naturally contain gluten, but contamination can occur during processing. We therefore do not label our product as gluten-free and advise against consumption by people with gluten intolerances such as coeliac disease. If you are looking for gluten-free alternatives, then take a look at our gluten-free range. There you will find gluten-free rolled oats and much more!
Once you have opened the packet, you should always make sure that you seal the rolled oats airtight after use and store them in a cool, dry place. The minimum shelf life in the unopened original packaging is 1 year after the production date.
The delicious flakes are extra tender and are perfect for a creamy bowl of porridge. With this economy pack of 2.5kg, you also save on plastic and costs. They are also organic, have a high fibre content and are produced in Germany. If your family or flatmates are ravenous, you can also buy the 25kg bulk pack of thin-rolled oats.
At 14g per 100g, our rolled oats are a source of protein.
Of course! The breakfast staple comes from organic EU farming.
Every child has different needs and a different digestive system. In our opinion, babies should only eat raw oats after 10 months. However, please clarify this with your trusted healthcare professional beforehand.
Our thin-rolled oats are made from finely chopped oat kernels, so-called oat groats. Due to their delicate shape, they swell up very quickly and are therefore suitable for your next porridge. In contrast, there are the hearty flakes, also known as big leaf rolled oats. They are made from whole oat kernels and so take longer to swell.
Our rolled oats are organically grown in Germany.
First and foremost, a balanced diet that is tailored to your individual needs is healthy. Balance is the key here. Our rolled oats have a high fibre content. They are also a delicious source of protein.
It's really easy and can be made in no time at all. Take a look at these instructions with a delicious recipe idea.
We recommend 50-100g of rolled oats for one portion of porridge. A small portion (50g) of thin-rolled oats comes to approx. 186 kcal.

The basis of my breakfast

I use it daily in my morning porridge. I like the "fine" shape for better mixing with the liquid.
