The fig tree and its harvest

Fig trees have their origin in the Arab world, and played an important role in the Bible, as in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve covered themselves with fig leaves; besides apples, figs were the only fruits. Today, they are mainly to be found in the Mediterranean area, but are sometimes cultivated in South Africa or Australia too – they love the warmth. When ripe, the fruit of the fig tree falls from the branch, and this is why tarpaulins are often placed under the fig trees for harvest. For your taste experience, we have gently dried this sweet, delicious fruits using no artificial additives: our figs are completely natural, super aromatic, and wonderfully soft.

Fun fig facts

Admittedly, maybe we thought we were cool with the pun after all and just can't leave it alone. But did you know that there are male and female fig trees? If you ever see a fig tree with fruit hanging from it, you can be sure it's a female fig tree. Only female trees bear the delicious fruit. Male fig trees are nevertheless indispensable - almost like humans. They are needed for fertilisation. This is ensured by a certain species of gall wasp that lays its eggs only in the flower cups of these trees, loads itself with pollen, moves on and pollinates the female flowers. Spoiler: There are also fig trees with male and female flowers that can pollinate themselves. We have one more: figs are so-called pseudo-fruits because the flowers grow inwards. The seeds in the flesh are therefore the actual fruit. So figs are cowards after all - or why do they hide?

Can I give the snack figs to my dog?

Since our snack figs do not contain large seeds, they do not pose any danger. Whether your dog tolerates the figs, depends individually on the animal. In any case, excessive consumption should not take place. But in principle, your dog is happy about the sweet fruits.

What is the shelf life of KoRo snack figs?

After our snack figs are packed, they have a shelf life of at least 6 months. Ideally, you store our snack figs always closed in a dry and cool place - far away from sunlight. This way we guarantee you an unchanged taste experience!

What are the nutritional values of figs?

Our snack figs have about 260 kcal per 100 g. Since our figs are dried, you can not compare the nutritional values with the fresh figs. All further information and ingredients can be found in the nutritional table next to our product description.

Can I make my own fig mustard with the figs?

Yes, of course! Falls Du Dir schon ein Rezept ausgesucht hast, kannst Du einfach die Feigen mit unseren Snack Feigen ersetzen. Andernfalls kannst Du auch ganz einfach folgendes Rezept nehmen: 200 g Feigen in Wasser oder Orangensaft für ca. 6 Stunden einweichen und anschließend mit 250 g Senf mixen – fertig!

Do I have to peel the snack figs?

Don't panic on the Titanic - you don't have to. You can eat the snack figs without any problems and do not have to cut anything away or remove a shell. You just have to take a bite - or rather: bite into it - and enjoy it!

Where do KoRo snack figs come from?

Fig trees love the Mediterranean - no question! That's why our snack figs come from Spain. After harvesting, the sweet fruits are dried and then freshly packed for you.
