Refined with aromatic herbs from Tuscany, KoRo's organic tofu rosso will spoil your taste buds and inspire you to try out a lot of Mediterranean culinary creations. So as not to take our tofu for a world tour before landing on your plate, we source the soy beans for it from certified organic EU cultivations only. 

The perfect ingredient for your creations 

Vegetarians and vegans are often looking for new and different alternatives to meat, which at the same time can offer a comparably intense taste experience. Thanks to the fresh herbs with which it is refined, our tofu rosso has a pleasantly spicy, characteristic flavour unlike many other tofu varieties. For those who like it even spicier, we suggest to marinate the tofu with fresh chili oil and garlic: taste explosion guaranteed!

Ursprünglich kommt Soja aus China. Mittlerweile wird allerdings die Hälfte aller geernteten Sojabohnen aus südamerikanischem Anbau bezogen. Damit unser Tofu nicht einmal quer um die Welt gereist ist, bevor er bei Dir zu Hause ankommt, stellen wir ihn aus Sojabohnen her, die zu 100 % aus kontrolliert biologischem EU-Anbau stammen.

Bei der Sojapflanze handelt es sich um eine Pflanzenart aus der Familie der Schmetterlingsblütler, die den Hülsenfrüchten untergeordnet ist. Die Nutzpflanze kann bis zu 40 cm groß werden und trägt unpaarig gegliederte, ovale Blätter.

Die Sojabohnen reifen in einer länglich grünen Hülse heran. Um diesen Reifeprozess nicht zu beeinträchtigen, ist es wichtig, dass die Pflanze über einen ausreichend stickstoffhaltigen Nährboten verfügt. Dieser ist ein wichtiger Baustein für die Entstehung von Soja-Eiweiß.

Nachdem die Sojabohnen ausgereift sind, können sie schließlich zwischen Mitte September und Anfang Oktober gedroschen und somit geerntet werden. Ob die Sojabohnen reif sind, erkennt man daran, dass sie beim Schütteln der Pflanze in den Hülsen rascheln.

Die beliebten Edamame beim Sushi-Laden um die Ecke sind übrigens nichts anderes als unreif geerntete Sojabohnen, die in Wasser gekocht und anschließend leicht gesalzen wurden.

Nach der Ernte werden die Sojabohnen zunächst in Einweichbehälter gegeben, wo sie innerhalb der nächsten Stunden stark aufquellen. Danach werden sie zu einer Flüssigkeit verarbeitet und denaturiert.

Unter Zugabe von Nigari als Gerinnungsmittel flockt die Flüssigkeit aus und es bildet sich neben Molke das hochwertige Sojaeiweiß. Gemeinsam mit mediterranen Kräutern in einen sogenannten Presskasten gegeben, entstehen schließlich feste Tofu-Blöcke. Diese werden im letzten Schritt mit einer frisch zubereiteten Tomatensoße mariniert.

The best known types of tofu are silken tofu, natural tofu and smoked tofu. Silken tofu is particularly soft and smooth. Therefore, it is super suitable for vegan desserts. Natural tofu is firmer and has small holes. It can be easily cut or crumbled and is therefore well suited for hearty dishes. Smoked tofu is smoky and spicy. An ideal alternative when time is too short to marinate your tofu yourself. It goes great with stir-fries and stews as a meat substitute.
Yes, tofu can also be consumed raw, as it is not strictly speaking a raw product.
Cut the tofu into slices or cubes and fry with plenty of oil for about 3 minutes on all sides. Juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Similarly, tofu is also great when grilled on a barbecue for 3 mins on two sides.

Flavorful and versatile

Tofu really very tasty, maybe a little bit salty but still good even eaten alone. Better texture than olive tofu which crumbles so much

this is the best tofu that is not pure

the mixture with these delicious tomatoes and also the consistency is great - we love this tofu, whether with pasta or in asian bowls. addendum: unfortunately often not available. had a mail that it is back, but obviously I'm too late. also, of course, I would like to see the bundle cheaper than single purchase
