Cultivated blueberries vs. wild blueberries

The difference between cultivated blueberries and their wild relatives, also called forest blueberries, is quickly explained. Cultivated blueberries are descended from cultivars of the American wild blueberries and are now grown worldwide in temperate climates. In contrast, wild blueberries simply grow wherever they please and thus live up to their name. Cultivated blueberries are slightly larger than forest blueberries and have a light flesh, while the wild berries are also dark blue on the inside and turn your tongue blue. We have gently dried our cultivated blueberries for a longer shelf life. However, you can always rehydrate the berries - i.e. soak them in water - and use them just like fresh blueberries in a variety of recipes.
