Whether banana bread, pancakes or gingerbread – cinnamon is THE spice that can be used in all types of baked goods. It is beloved around Christmas, but just using it in that period of the year would almost be a crime! There is so much more you can do with this delicious spice. Do you like Oriental flavours? Use it to refine your hearty dishes like roasts or curries. And not to forget, the classic oat and cinnamon combination for a delicious morning apple and cinnamon porridge. Who could resist that?

The classics: cinnamon buns and gingerbread

Even though we just mentioned that cinnamon should not be reduced to its Christmas dishes, we can't help but pick up on the two best-known baked goods in which cinnamon unfolds its unique aroma: ginger bread and cinnamon starts taste amazing with the addition of cinnamon. Another star among the cinnamon pastries: the cinnamon buns. Fresh from the oven, our vegan cinnamon buns are guaranteed to blow you away – not literally, of course. This special ground spice is not only available in many recipes but also in our snack sectionapple chips with cinnamonalmond butter with vanilla and cinnamon and cinnamon coated apple pieces are our personal favourites around Christmas time!

From the cinnamon tree to the ground spice

Where does the brownish, pleasantly sweet spice with which we so often refine our porridge actually come from? To make the cinnamon powder, cinnamon sticks, which are the rolled bark of cinnamon trees (part of the laurel family), are ground. So what is the cinnamon type "Cinnamomum Ceylanicum" all about? Cinnamomum Ceylanicum is a special type of cinnamon. Unlike cassia cinnamon, which comes from China, this variety cinnamon comes from Sri Lanka. Cassia cinnamon sticks are coarser and thicker, are also darker in colour, and have a more intense smell.

Climate impact

At KoRo, we analyse the greenhouse gas emissions that are produced during the production of our snacks. These include, among other things, CO2, methane and nitrous oxide. Our hard-working sustainability team collects all the information to calculate a value: the so-called CO2 equivalents. We are now passing this information on to you so that you can make informed purchasing decisions and keep an eye on your personal carbon footprint. We also use these valuable findings ourselves, to try to make our supply chains even smarter in the future and monitor our CO2 footprint.

CO₂ emissions by product

To make the work of our sustainability team easier, we have teamed up with the company Cozero. They support us with their decarbonisation software to calculate the CO2 emissions of our products. Our products go through a lot before they make their way into your pantry or snack bowl, so there is a lot to take into consideration: production, packaging, and logistics – to name just the big steps.

CO₂ emission per product in comparison

Would you like to find out how well your favourite snack stacks up against other products in terms of carbon footprint? Say no more! To create comparability, we calculated the CO₂ emissions per 1 kg of our products and compared them with other products that end up on many people's plates every day, such as cheese, tofu, and many more. We also included coffee as a drink for comparison. So no matter if it is your favourite snack or your go-to kitchen product, you are now able to see exactly how it performs in our “CO₂ per kg of product” ranking.

Ceylon

Made from the inner bark of the Cinnamomum verum tree, Ceylon is the original form of cinnamon. The thinner the rind, the finer and more aromatic the cinnamon taste, which is nobler, more aromatic and less pungent than that of the Cassia variety.

Cinnamon is a very old spice that originally came from Asia. Cinnamon trees are grown on plantations and harvested immediately after the rainy season, as the bark is then fresh and moist and can be easily peeled off. The quality of the cinnamon is based on the texture and color of its quills.

Questions & answers: Organic ground cinnamon 500g
No search results.
Cinnamon is said to have a labor-promoting effect, but this is only noticeable when a very large amount of cinnamon is used. Cinnamon in large quantities can lead to side effects. However, the Ceylon variety in particular is not a problem for most women when taken in moderation. Nevertheless, we recommend that you consult with your doctor.
Yes and no - Ceylon cinnamon is definitely a better choice for your baby due to its lower coumarin content. However, only small amounts of cinnamon are enough to cause lasting harm to your baby. We therefore recommend that you do not give your baby organic Ceylon cinnamon.
Clearly, our organic Ceylon cinnamon is completely vegan. Except ground cinnamon literally nothing comes into our bag, so that the spice is purely vegetable.
To ensure that the cinnamon retains its intense aroma for as long as possible, you should store the spice in a cool, dry place. Our Ball Mason Jars are ideal for this purpose.
Of course, our cinnamon comes from organic farming.
According to German authorities, the upper limit for cinnamon consumption is approximately 600 g per year. This corresponds to approximately 1.6 g per day.
Our Ceylon cinnamon has a wonderfully mild, pleasantly sweet aroma. Since we have already thought that this cinnamon will simply convince every cinnamon lover, the spice comes in the practical 500 g advantage pack to your home. So you can share your favorite spice with your family members or flatmates without fearing that your next porridge will run out of cinnamon. As if that wasn't enough, we source our cinnamon from organic farms. If that's not enough of an argument for our delicious cinnamon, we don't know what is.
You should also be careful with cinnamon when breastfeeding, as large amounts of the spice can lead to side effects. We therefore recommend that you consult with your doctor.
To produce cinnamon, the bark of the cinnamon tree is stripped of the outer layers. The Ceylon cinnamon is harvested in very thin layers of bark, which are then stitched together so that their appearance resembles a cigar. The cinnamon sticks are then dried and ground into cinnamon powder. Pretty cool, right?

The packaging is again quite unwieldy, because the thin plastic has made quite a mess after opening. Had to decant it again directly (which is ultimately easier said than done with the amount ). However, this does not change the quantity of the product, therefore again the 5 stars :)
Maybe you can find a better alternative to the plastic packaging

Unfortunately not convincing

I liiiiiiieeebe cinnamon! And therefore also consume relatively much of it, so only Ceylon cinnamon comes into question for me, in order not to take so much coumarin to me. Unfortunately, this cinnamon was taste no hit, very shallow and unaromatic, you can hardly taste the cinnamon in the dish. Also from the color it is very pale and also more coarsely ground than I know it from other manufacturers, quite a disappointment. Therefore, unfortunately, from me so no recommendation.
