Raw cane sugar - what is it?
Whole cane sugar (also known as panela), raw cane sugar and cane sugar all sound outrageously similar and so confusion can quickly arise. First, let's look at what they have in common: All three types of sugar are made from sugar cane grown in tropical countries such as Brazil, South Africa and Cuba. These countries also include Mozambique, where our raw cane sugar comes from - from 100% organic cultivation, of course! But what is the difference then? Apart from their names and origins, the sugar varieties are actually quite different from each other - both in taste and in production. Whole cane sugar is obtained from the sugar cane juice, which is thickened, dried and ground in the process. It has a very dark, brown colour and a strong flavour of its own. Raw cane sugar is much lighter, which is due to the fact that the thickened sugar cane juice is refined once for its production. Cane sugar is finally completely white because it is refined several times.
Clever cane sugar?
Of course, when it comes to sugar, "refined" is not a synonym for smart or clever. In the world of sugar, refined describes processed and isolated sugar. Incidentally, this also includes dextrose and fructose. Refining thus describes the process by which the sugar crystals obtained are repeatedly dissolved and crystallised. The aim is to increase the purity of the sugar crystals. Since raw cane sugar is only refined once, it still contains a residue of molasses, unlike cane sugar - hence the brown colour and the still slightly caramel-like aroma. This is no longer present in white cane sugar because it has been purified several times with water.
Baking and more baking with our raw cane sugar
Even though raw cane sugar has a slightly different taste, it is a wonderful alternative to white sugars, such as beet sugar and cane sugar, and gives your baked goods that special something. Both the pink chocolate and walnut cookies and our vegan chocolate chip cookies enchant all cookie lovers in this world. A delicious vegan hazelnut cake, vegan apple crumble or a vegan banana bread can all be made in an instant. The sugar, which has only been refined once, is also wonderfully suitable for desserts: try making some yeast dumplings, a classic German Kaiserschmarrn with raisins or hazelnut rice pudding with the sugar! Want to try something a bit more out there? Make sweet Caribbean beans!
Buy organic raw cane sugar
We also offer a wide range of sugar alternatives, such as coconut blossom sugar, xylitol and erythritol for even more variety in baking and cooking! Almond butter upgrade: organic almond tonka cream
Exceptionally aromatic: that was our motto when we developed the organic almond tonka cream. We would say: goal achieved, because the cream is delicious to spoon out. To achieve this, we have refined our melt-in-the-mouth almond cream with a special ingredient: the tonka bean. A real insider tip in the kitchen! We'll tell you what this rather unknown spice is all about.

Production
