Benefits of raw ginger
You have ve probably already come across the small yellowish roots in the supermarket or maybe you have heard about ginger's powerful reputation. But have you ever tried consuming it raw? The small power tuber is not only suitable as a spicy tea or cooking ingredient, but also has a variety of benefits and nutrients, especially when eaten raw.
Nutrients
Ginger contains a number of important nutrients for our body. These include calcium, iron, phosphorus, and potassium, but also vitamins such as vitamin C, which is sensitive to heat and can therefore be quickly lost when ginger is prepared in the form of tea, for example.
Raw ginger is characterised by its spicy taste, which is due to gingerol, a component which is also sensitive to heat. This makes raw ginger particularly healthy but also particularly spicy! However, eating it raw is always worthwhile due to the many nutrients, which are particularly high in contrast to other processed ginger products.
Use
Ginger can be particularly helpful for digestive problems and cold symptoms. Vitamin C and gingerol play a crucial role here too. It also boosts the metabolism and has an antioxidant effect.
Ginger shots
If you (understandably) don't feel like chewing raw ginger, you can also make your own ginger shots using the following simple recipe, for a particularly concentrated and effective drink!
Ingredients for approx 5 shots:
- 50 g ginger
- 1 lemon
- 50 ml agave syrup
Preparation:
- It doesn't get any easier! Peel the ginger and put it in a blender with the other ingredients. Then mix everything and pour it through a sieve into small glasses. Enjoy!
