Almond butter upgrade: organic almond tonka cream

Exceptionally aromatic: that was our motto when we developed the organic almond tonka cream. We would say: goal achieved, because the cream is delicious to spoon out. To achieve this, we have refined our melt-in-the-mouth almond cream with a special ingredient: the tonka bean. A real insider tip in the kitchen! We'll tell you what this rather unknown spice is all about.

Almond butter upgrade: organic almond tonka cream

Creamy almond butter kisses tasty tonka bean

KoRo general knowledge: We make the creamiest and tastiest almond butter worldwide. Nevertheless, we didn't want to rest on our laurels and thought: there's more to it! So we had a chat with the KoRo gourmets and they presented us with this velvety, aromatic organic almond tonka cream. In addition to the creamy white almond paste, the star of the show is the wonderfully fragrant tonka bean. The bean, also known as "Mexican vanilla", has an aroma reminiscent of wonderfully sweet vanilla and caramel. To use it, grate the tonka bean over a fine grater like a nutmeg and use it to enhance your kitchen creations, e.g. crème brûlée with tonka for a special touch. For us, the tonka bean fits more into the categories of cozy Advent season and fragrant Christmas markets, but from there we will now take you on a trip around the world. Because the tonka bean has found its home not only in Germany, but in many cuisines around the world.

All about: Tonka bean

We start our journey in Central and South America, where the tonka bean is mainly grown. As the name suggests, the tonka bean belongs to the legume family. However, the seeds of the fruit of the tonka tree are used as a spice. The small, firm, dark seeds are soaked in rum after harvesting. The bean is then dried and fermented until it starts its journey to our producers and then into your almond cream jar.

By the way: in Venezuela, the tonka bean could still be used as official currency until 1940. Quite a valuable little bean! Even today, many Venezuelans still carry the tonka bean in their wallets, as it is said to bring good luck and prosperity. Even though this tradition is not native to our country, we thought we'd play it safe anyway. That's why we added the lucky tonka bean to our organic almond cream. Thanks to its vanilla and caramel notes, the bean goes wonderfully with all your sweet creations - and also in our organic almond tonka cream! And to emphasize the aroma even more, we have also refined the organic almond tonka cream with bourbon vanilla - a crystal-clear dream team. Pure from the spoon or on a steaming bowl of porridge, the organic almond tonka cream tastes heavenly, but what else can you do with it?

A stacked cake dream: crepe cake

Who came up with this delicious treat, you ask? Our journey takes us to our final destination: South Korea. There, a cake made from wafer-thin crepes is a popular street food dessert. And we didn't want to keep that from you. But of course we have a special KoRo twist for you: instead of using cream between the layers, we refine the cake with our organic almond tonka cream. This makes your cake super creamy, wonderfully sweet and gives it a special touch thanks to the bourbon vanilla and the intense aroma of the tonka bean. Like us, your mouth is probably already watering. So here's a recipe for everyone who loves cake but doesn't like baking: crêpe cake with organic almond tonka cream!
