KoRo's top-quality tahini is 100% sesame seeds, and its strong and unique taste will make you fall in love.

The best tahini for the best hummus

A must-have for all the hummus lovers among you, our creamy tahini is made of unpeeled sesame seeds which have been thoroughly roasted before being processed, thus gaining an extra portion of fibre and taste, and its beautiful darker shade. Give it a good stir and let the fun begin! Our tahini is great added to salad dressings, used for baking sticky Halva sweets, or simply to be spread on your favourite bread and paired with jam or sprinkled on your porridge bowl.

Higher calcium content thanks to the peel

Your delicious creations deserve the best tahini possible, able to give your sauces, falafels, dips, and even pasta dishes that special something. This is where our creamy, delicate tahini comes into play. It consists of only one ingredient - certified organic sesame seeds. What's more, our tahini brings a breath of fresh air to the vegan diet. The tahini connoisseurs in Israel would be proud of us!

Climate impact

At KoRo, we analyse the greenhouse gas emissions that are produced during the production of our snacks. These include, among other things, CO2, methane and nitrous oxide. Our hard-working sustainability team collects all the information to calculate a value: the so-called CO2 equivalents. We are now passing this information on to you so that you can make informed purchasing decisions and keep an eye on your personal carbon footprint. We also use these valuable findings ourselves, to try to make our supply chains even smarter in the future and monitor our CO2 footprint.

CO₂ emissions by product

To make the work of our sustainability team easier, we have teamed up with the company Cozero. They support us with their decarbonisation software to calculate the CO2 emissions of our products. Our products go through a lot before they make their way into your pantry or snack bowl, so there is a lot to take into consideration: production, packaging, and logistics – to name just the big steps.

CO₂ emission per product in comparison

Would you like to find out how well your favourite snack stacks up against other products in terms of carbon footprint? Say no more! To create comparability, we calculated the CO₂ emissions per 1 kg of our products and compared them with other products that end up on many people's plates every day, such as cheese, tofu, and many more. We also included coffee as a drink for comparison. So no matter if it is your favourite snack or your go-to kitchen product, you are now able to see exactly how it performs in our “CO₂ per kg of product” ranking.

Comparison of CO₂ emissions per product in kg

Disclaimer: Different methods (comparison products) - The CO2 emissions of the non-KoRo products come from a different data source. Therefore, there may be differences between their evaluation method and the evaluation of KoRo products.

Production

Before you order a large jar of tahini, of course you want to know more about the shelf life of the mush. After production, the tahini can be stored in a light-protected place for up to three years. Once opened, you should then store the sesame puree in the refrigerator. Don't worry: even at cooler temperatures, the tahini retains its deliciously liquid consistency. And so the jar is also empty faster than you thought at the beginning.
Hummus is very easy to make yourself. And if you take chickpeas from the can, the preparation is also relatively quick. We tell you a super simple hummus recipe. One thing should be said: The longer the finished spread rests, the more intense it is in taste. So be patient for one to two hours after preparation, it's worth it. You need a can of chickpeas, 2 tablespoons of tahini, fresh juice of half a lemon and garlic, cumin and paprika powder according to taste. All this off into the blender and add some cold water for the ultimate creaminess. Blend for about a minute and watch the hummus get creamier and creamier. Done! If your hummus is still too firm for you, just add a little more water. But be careful, because if the spread has become too liquid, then you can not thicken it again so easily. Then you can serve the hummus with a little olive oil and sesame seeds on top. Add pita bread, carrot sticks and couscous salad and you have a versatile dinner. The good thing about making hummus yourself? There are no limits to your creativity. You can refine the spread with avocado or beet and prepare it with or without garlic, depending on your taste. A popular variation is hummus based on white beans instead of chickpeas.
Our tahini from unhulled sesame seeds not only tastes great - it also looks great in the nutritional values. With a high content of calcium, the dark tahini provides you with valuable nutrients. In addition, the sesame seeds for our tahini come from controlled organic farming and are thus characterized by particularly high quality. If that's not a superfood.

good product for certain recipes

Intense-tasting, bitter, very firm, full-bodied in texture, also quite difficult to blend (but that's its characteristic). I like it very much as a base for croutons or for a stronger-flavored hummus. For flavoring vegetables I prefer the white liquid version.
