Deshalb testen wir vorher: Damit Du nicht dieses Gesicht machen musst, wenn Du Dein Glas Pekannussmus probierst. Um in den Shop zu kommen, müssen die Produkte erst mal unsere Geschmacksknospen überzeugen.

Es dauert noch ein bisschen

Lassen wir der Nuss ein bisschen Zeit: Nur alle zwei Jahre werden Pekannüsse von ihren Bäumen geerntet. Der größte Teil der weltweiten Produktion findet in den südlichen Staaten der USA statt, die Nüsse für unser Pekannnussmus stammen aber aus Südafrika.

Hier lohnt sich keine Leiter

Die Nüsse wollen nicht von selbst auf die Erde fallen? Da hilft keine Überzeugungsarbeit – sondern nur eine riesige Rüttelmaschine. Die Pekannüsse per Hand zu pflücken ist keine Option: Die Bäume können über 30 Meter groß werden.

Für die richtige Bräune

Nach der Ernte geht es für die Nüsse zur Verarbeitung nach Bulgarien. Die Südafrikanische Sonne sind sie zwar schon gewohnt – hier wird es aber noch ein bisschen wärmer. In diesen Trommeln werden sie zur Perfektion geröstet. Hoffentlich wird Pekannüssen nicht so schnell schwindelig.
